Rattunde Expands Global Headquarters Substantially…by Good Luck!

Increase in plant and office capacity responds to global growth for tube & bar processing machine builder

Global manufacturer of tube and bar processing machinery Rattunde today announces a substantial increase in its plant and office capacity at the company’s global headquarters in Ludwigslust, Germany, near Hamburg.  The announcement was made by company president Ulrich Rattunde.

At a company gathering in early July, Mr. Rattunde announced that he had signed an agreement to purchase the entire facility of a neighboring company literally across the street from the existing Rattunde facility in Ludwigslust, namely Alstom, the multi-national rail transport and power generation firm.  This acquisition was completed on July 25, 2017.

The new 175,000 sq. ft. manufacturing facility for Rattunde is more than double the current size, thus permitting substantial expansion in the production of machines for this builder of tube & bar processing equipment.  Rattunde markets globally to a variety of industrial OEM’s and contract manufacturers.  In tandem with its U.S. facility in the Grand Rapids, Michigan area, the company is now better positioned to serve its established install bases in Europe and North America, with the added capacity enabling continued growth and expansion into the emerging markets of Asia and South America.

In tandem with the larger manufacturing facility, Rattunde will now also enjoy 18% more office space for its design, engineering, sales and service personnel in Germany.

Rattunde Corporation president (North America) Rick Stadler observes, “Everyone in the company is excited by the potential of the new headquarters.  We will not only have greater capacity to respond to current customer delivery needs, but this development will enhance our competitive status around the world.  It’s a very exciting time for Rattunde.”

Stadler also mentioned the recently opened Rattunde facility in Mexico, where the company has substantial and expanding business engagements.

Rattunde Opens New Facility in Mexico

Major German supplier of finished length tube and solid bar processing equipment opens its doors in Monterrey/Apodaca to serve the Mexican market with sales, service, spare parts and engineering

Mexico Opening

Rattunde Corporation President Rick Stadler (front, left), Rattunde Mexico Director Javier Lopez (center, left), Director of Technical Services Renato Luna (center, right) and the team from Rattunde’s new facility celebrate the ribbon-cutting ceremony to open the company’s Mexican headquarters in Monterrey/Apodaca in the state of Nuevo Leon.Rattunde Corporation, the North American arm of a German-based manufacturer of finished length tube and solid bar production systems, has been operating from a single location in the Grand Rapids, Michigan area for over nine years. The company’s considerable success in the market resulted in the recent grand opening of a new facility in the Monterrey, Mexico area to serve its growing customer base in that country.

Rattunde Corporation President Richard Stadler and VP Alec Banish, joined by Rattunde Mexico Director Javier Lopez and his team, proudly opened the doors to the new facility in Monterrey/Apodaca on February 4, 2016.

This new 8,073 square-foot (750 square-meter) tech center houses the Mexican sales and service operations, application engineering and spare parts inventory. Future plans include a machine onsite in 2017 for demonstration and training. This decision to open a tech center in Mexico was reached, after an analysis of the current and anticipated business needs of the company in-country, according to Rick Stadler. “Our growth in America and in Mexico has been rapid, though not unexpected, due to the unique nature of our equipment and the reliability and performance characteristics of our machines. With a solid install base and growing demand for local service in Mexico, this move simply made a lot of sense to us.”   Stadler further noted that solid growth of the company into diverse markets throughout North America made the new facility a logical choice. In addition, he said the new machine sales generated directly from Mexico-based management and procurement personnel also contributed to the decision.

This 8,073 square-foot (750 square-meter) facility will be a full tech center with application engineering, sales, service and spare parts inventory. Plans for a demo machine are in the works for 2017.

This 8,073 square-foot (750 square-meter) facility will be a full tech center with application engineering, sales, service and spare parts inventory. Plans for a demo machine are in the works for 2017.

Concurrent with this new tech center, Rattunde has expanded its workforce in Mexico with technical service, sales and administrative personnel. As Stadler explains, “Whenever a machinery company grows quickly, there’s an ever-present need for more customer service and technical assistance personnel. Of course, new people must be found and trained.” Stadler went on to explain that rapid growth also means working smarter. Rather than waiting for a customer to reach out to Rattunde in a time of need, the company is proactively sending technicians to its customers and performing comprehensive machine inspections, identifying and correcting small issues before they become large ones.

For Mexico, two Rattunde service technicians are now in-country, one operating from the new tech center in Monterrey/Apodaca and another based in Guadalajara.

In the end, Stadler says, “This new facility solidifies our Mexican presence in the high-volume tube and solid bar production markets such as auto, appliance and aero, thus benefiting our current and future customers in many ways. We’re selling to a large number of companies in various markets, in-country, so it was a logical move for us to be here, in many ways.”

Other attendees at this grand opening included Rattunde personnel, sales representatives from the North American network, honored guests from the parent company in Germany, plus customers, prospective business partners and suppliers to the company.

Major German supplier of finished length tube and solid bar processing equipment greets 100+ at new 30,000 square-foot facility in Grand Rapids area; plans to expand for full machine builds here

Guests at Rattunde's Open House enjoyed an outdoor barbeque!

Guests at Rattunde’s Open House enjoyed an outdoor barbeque!

Rattunde Corporation, a German-based manufacturer of finished length tube and solid bar production systems, has been operating in the North American market for over eight years. The company’s success was celebrated with a technology open house on May 13-14, during which guests saw a resident machine in action, taking steel tube lengths and producing finished, cut-to-length, chamfered and machined tubing sections, automatically stacked for shipping, all within the work envelope of the machine.

Rattunde Corporation President Richard Stadler proudly opened the doors to the company, a 30,000 square-foot facility in Caledonia Township, near the company’s previous location in Grand Rapids, Michigan.

The plant houses the North American sales and service operations, plus spare parts inventory and manufacturing operations for the production of machine tooling. Areas within the new facility also house a technical center with a machine onsite at all times for demonstration and training. Future plans call for an expansion of the building to over 100,000 square feet, enabling Rattunde to produce their entire finished length tube and solid bar production systems here. This decision was reached, after an analysis of the current and anticipated business needs of the company, according to Stadler. “Our growth in North America has been rapid, though not unexpected, due to the unique nature of our equipment and the reliability and performance characteristics of our machines.” Stadler further noted that solid growth of the company into diverse markets throughout North America made the new facility a logical choice.

In commenting on the new facility, Richard Stadler noted, “There were several reasons why we wanted to remain in the greater Grand Rapids area, but one of the main reasons is the excellent talent base here.  Companies are built on people and, whether you are looking for an experienced veteran of industry or a fresh graduate from one of our ranking high schools, colleges or universities, outstanding people can be found here in the Grand Rapids area.”

Concurrent with this development, Rattunde has expanded its workforce with technical service and administrative personnel. As Stadler explains, “Whenever a machinery company grows quickly, there’s an ever-present need for more customer service and technical personnel. Of course, new people must be found and trained.” Stadler went on to explain that rapid growth also means working smarter. Rather than waiting for a customer to reach out to Rattunde in a time of need, Rattunde is proactively sending technicians to the customer and performing comprehensive machine inspections, identifying and correcting small issues before they become large ones.

In the end, Stadler says, “This new facility solidifies our North American presence in the high-volume tube and solid bar production markets, thus benefiting our current and future customers in many ways. It’s a purpose-built building, with a forward-looking eye on all we will need to build our machines and systems from the ground up.”

Over 100 guests joined in this two-day event, watching the machine operate, examining the dedicated tooling Rattunde will produce onsite, participating in the technical sessions, led by Stadler and VP Alec Banish, plus enjoying the outdoor barbeque, as the weather cooperated nicely.

The attendees comprised Rattunde personnel, sales representatives from the North American network, honored guests from the parent company in Germany, plus numerous customers, prospective business partners and suppliers to the company. A good time was had by all!

Rattunde Unveils New ACS + CFMtwin Machine

See Rattunde in Hall 6, Stand E-40 at Tube Fair in Dusseldorf, April 7-11, 2014!

Major German supplier of finished length tube and solid bar processing equipment offers dual tube cutting and finishing in one setup; produces up to 5000 pieces per hour with up to 40% energy savings

Rattunde_Maschine_0108

Rattunde ACS + CFMtwin machine for simultaneous dual tube processing; can produce up to 5000 parts per hour

Rattunde Corporation, a German-based manufacturer of finished length tube and solid bar production, today announces the introduction of the ACS® + CFMtwin machine, the newest member in the company’s family of tube production systems.  Equipped with a specially-designed twin machining head that fits onto the standard head, this new machine can cut two tube or bar sections simultaneously, then machines both ends of both workpieces, also simultaneously.   This new Rattunde machine can produce up to 5000 finished pieces per hour.  The option also exists for single tube or bar production on the same machine.

The ACS® + CFMtwin machine, when in twin mode, can process two workpieces of 10mm to 41.5mm OD each into finished lengths from 10mm to 1500mm.  Example:  21mm OD x 3.5mm wall x 45mm length cut from a 6.5 meter mill length of stock material, based on carbon steel.  When the twin head is removed, the standard machining head can process a single workpiece up to 105mm OD.

669

Close-up of twin cutting head; machine cuts two workpieces simultaneously

In addition to the twin workpiece processing, this new Rattunde machine offers the OEM or production house all the capabilities found on Rattunde’s ACS® family of tube and bar production systems, including secondary brush deburring, end machining (chamfering and facing), inspection, washing, drying and robotic packaging.  The entire machine and all auxiliary workstations are motion-controlled by CNC from a single operator station for maximum efficiency.  The ACS® + CFMtwin is built on the same platform as the existing and popular Rattunde ACS® + CFM and ACS + CFMcurve systems.

Even when processing in twin mode, the setup time for a new job can be under 15 minutes, according to Rattunde engineering.  Other standard features on this new Rattunde machine include data management on all workpiece parameters (approx. 10,000 workpieces), data logging of every part produced for full part traceability, material lead and end edge detection for minimized crop cut and tag end.  All operating limits are set from the control panel, with continuous tool break monitoring for the saw blade and all cutting tools.

701

Each end of the two workpieces is simultaneously chamfered before automated transfer to the cleaning and final packaging stations

Alec Banish, director of business development at the company, states, “This new machine clearly gives us a decided advantage in the market for high-production requirements.  Plus, with the standard machining head still in place on the machine, the ACS® + CFMtwin can be a highly flexible, adaptable production system for many types of manufacturing operations as well as a wide variety of end product producers.”

Because the machine offers essentially double the production in the same machine footprint, up to 40% energy savings have been documented on a 25mm OD x 3mm wall x 42mm long piece from a stock length of 6 meters in a typical batch count of 45,000.

Major German supplier of  finished length tube and solid bar processing equipment to open new 30,000 square-foot facility in Grand Rapids area for tooling and component manufacturing; plans in place to expand for full machine builds

New Rattunde facility underway in Caledonia Township, Michigan, near Grand Rapids, due to open in April, 2014.

Rattunde Corporation, a German-based manufacturer of finished length tube and solid bar production systems, has been operating in the North American market for over seven years.  The company’s success during that time has resulted in today’s announcement by Rattunde Corporation President Richard Stadler of plans to build a 30,000 square-foot facility near the company’s current location in Grand Rapids, Michigan.  14 acres of land have been purchased by the company in nearby Caledonia Township and work has begun on the new facility, scheduled to open in April, 2014.

The plant will continue to house the North American sales and service operations and will allow for expanded spare parts inventory and manufacturing operations, including the production of tooling and various machine components.  Area within the new facility will also house a technical center with a machine onsite at all times for demonstration and training.

Concurrent with this development, Rattunde has expanded its workforce with technical service and administrative personnel.  As Stadler explains, “Whenever a machinery company grows quickly, there’s an ever-present need for more customer service and technical personnel.  Of course, new people must be found and trained.”  But, Stadler went on to explain that rapid growth also means working smarter.  Rather than waiting for a customer to reach out to Rattunde in a time of need, Rattunde is proactively sending technicians to the customer and performing comprehensive machine inspections, identifying and correcting small issues before they become large ones.

In the end, Stadler says, “This new facility will solidify our North American presence in the high-volume tube and solid bar production markets, thus benefiting our current and future customers in many ways.  It’s a purpose-built building, with a forward-looking eye on all we will need to build our machines and systems from the ground up.”  Rattunde will continue to occupy its current facility until completion of the new facility.
