450ºF Gas-fired Vertical Conveyor Oven from Grieve

No. 998 is a 450ºF (~232ºC) gas-fired, vertical conveyor oven from Grieve, currently used for curing rubber parts at the customer’s facility. Workspace of this unit measures 68”W x 74”D x 121”H. 400,000 BTU/HR are installed in a modulating natural gas burner to heat the oven, while a 6,000 CFM, 5HP recirculating blower provides a combination airflow to the workload.
This vertical conveyor oven has 4” insulated walls throughout, stainless steel exterior with #4 brushed finish, Type 304, 2B stainless steel interior with continuously backwelded seams, two side doors for access to the workspace and loading/unloading positions on each side to accept the customer’s fixtures, with a counterweight to hold the fixtures horizontal while passing upward through the oven chamber. The unit was constructed to be split into two sections for shipment.
The vertical conveyor on No. 998 is driven by a 3/4HP motor, controlled by a variable frequency drive, delivering 2.2 to 22.4 inches per minute of movement. Special light curtains guard the loading/unloading areas to stop indexing the conveyor, while each loading position is monitored by a laser photo eye to ensure a position is unloaded before the next indexing occurs. The system is controlled by PCC with a human interface screen.
All safety equipment required by IRI, FM and National Fire Protection Association Standard 86 for gas-heated equipment is onboard this Grieve oven, including 2000CFM, 2HP powered forced exhausters. The entire unit is built to NEMA 12 electrical standards.
Controls include a digital indicating temperature controller, a two-pen 10” dia. circular chart recorder with one pen for temperature and one pen to indicate indexing, plus a tower light to indicate machine status.

No. 996 is a gas-fired, 350ºF (177ºC) jumbo walk-in oven, currently used for batch processing large composite structures. Workspace dimensions measure 10’ W x 32’ D x 8’ H. 1,200,000 BTU/HR are installed in a modulating natural gas burner to heat the unit, while 49,000 CFM total from two (2) 20HP recirculating blowers provide combination airflow to the workloads.
This Grieve jumbo walk-in batch oven features 4” insulated walls throughout, removable top-mounted heat chamber (shown removed in photo), the oven body split into four (4) sections for shipment with mating angle iron frames for easy reassembly in the field, plus aluminized steel interior and exterior.
All safety equipment required by IRI, FM and National Fire Protection Association Standard 86 for gas-heated equipment are onboard No. 996, including an 8000 CFM powered forced exhauster for quick purge and cool down, motorized dampers on the intake and exhaust for accelerated cooling, as well as a 10” diameter circular chart recording and programming temperature controller.

No. 988 is an electrically-heated, 650ºF (343ºC) top-loading batch oven from Grieve, currently used to process electronic components at the customer’s facility. Workspace dimensions measure 12’ W x 1’ D x 1’ H. 15KW are installed in Incoloy-sheathed tubular heating elements to heat the unit, while a 600 CFM, 1/2-HP recirculating blower provides back-to-front horizontal airflow to the workload.
This Grieve batch oven features 6” insulated walls throughout, aluminized steel exterior, Type 304 stainless steel interior, a manual, counterweighted rear-hinged door, workspace floor reinforced for 100 lb. loading, access door at each end of the oven, plus swivel casters with swivel locks and wheel brakes for easy in-plant portability.

No. 990 is an electrically-heated, 500ºF (260ºC) walk-in batch oven from Grieve, currently used for curing composite materials in vacuum bags at the customer’s facility. Workspace dimensions of this oven measure 60” W x 60” D x 72” H. 40KW are installed in Incoloy-sheathed tubular elements to heat the unit, while a 3300 CFM, 2-HP recirculating blower provides a combination horizontal/vertical airflow to the workload.
This Grieve walk-in batch oven features 4” insulated walls throughout, aluminized steel interior and exterior, plus a four-position vacuum manifold, with gauge and hand valve for each position.
Controls and safety equipment on No. 990 include a digital programming temperature controller, manual reset excess temperature controller with separate contactors, recirculating blower airflow safety switch and SCR power controller. An integral five-point thermocouple jack panel is installed through the oven wall.

Inert Atmosphere Cabinet Oven from Grieve

No. 989 is an electrically-heated, 2000ºF (1093ºC) inert atmosphere furnace from Grieve, currently used to process fabricated parts at the customer’s facility. Workspace dimensions measure 30” W x 48” D x 30” H. 57KW are installed in nickel chrome wire coils supported by vacuum- formed ceramic fiber to heat the unit, while a roof-mounted, heat-resisting alloy circulating fan powered by a 2 HP motor with V-belt drive maintains the inert atmosphere for the workload.
This Grieve furnace features 7” thick insulated walls, comprising 5” of 2300ºF (1260ºC) ceramic fiber and 2” of 1700ºF (927ºC) ceramic fiber, plus 7-1/2” floor insulation, comprising 4-1/2” of 2300ºF (1260ºC) firebrick and 3” of 2300ºF (1260ºC) block insulation. An alloy roller rail is supported by firebrick piers and the alloy loading fixture (shown in photo) with five 200 lb. capacity alloy shelves is provided with an external support roller rack to hold the loading fixture directly in front of the furnace’s workspace for easy loading/unloading. The unit also has an electrically-operated vertical lift door.
Special Grieve inert atmosphere construction includes a continuously welded outer shell, high-temperature door gasket, sealed heater terminal boxes, inert atmosphere inlet and inert atmosphere outlet.
Controls on No. 989 include an inert atmosphere flow meter and pressure regulator, digital programming temperature controller, manual reset excess temperature controller with separate contactors and a strip chart recorder.

500ºF Electric Top-loading Oven from Grieve

No. 984 is an electrically-heated, 500ºF (260ºC) custom-designed top-loading oven from Grieve, currently used for curing connector assemblies onto long cables at the customer’s facility. Workspace dimensions measure 72” W x 8” D x 14” H. 12KW are installed in Nichrome wire elements to heat the unit, while a 600 CFM, 1/2 HP recirculating blower motor provides rear-to-front airflow across the workload.
This Grieve top-loading oven features 4” thick insulated walls, aluminized steel exterior, Type 430 stainless steel interior, four independently hinged doors to expose the front and back of each loading station, steel plate oven floor and a workspace floor reinforced for 100 lb. loading on 1/4” plate.
Controls on the No. 984 include four special automatic door switches to shut off blower and heat when any door is opened, plus a digital programming temperature controller, manual reset excess temperature controller with separate contactors and recirculating blower airflow safety switch.

500ºF Electric Universal Oven

No. 977 is an electrically-heated, 500ºF (260ºC) universal style oven from Grieve, currently used to preheat racks of small circuit boards at the customer’s facility. Workspace dimensions measure 30” W x 40” D x 31” H. 9KW are installed in Nichrome wire heating elements to heat the unit, while a 600 CFM, 1/2 HP recirculating blower motor provides front-to-rear universal airflow to the workload.
This Grieve oven features 4” thick insulated walls throughout, Type 304, 2B finish stainless steel interior and aluminized steel exterior. The unit is equipped with four drawers, each 24” W x 30” D x 2”H and rated for 50 lbs. loading. The drawers open to extend a full 20” from the front of the oven for easy parts handling. An integral leg stand is also provided on this unit.

500°F Electric Class 100 Cleanroom Cabinet Oven

No. 962 is a 500°F (257oC) electrically-heated, Class 100 cleanroom cabinet oven from Grieve, currently used for pass-through depyrogenation of glassware. Workspace dimensions measure 24”W x 36”D x27”H. 10KW installed in Incoloy-sheathed tubular elements provide heat, while a 600 CFM, 3/4-HP recirculating blower delivers horizontal airflow to the workload.
This cleanroom oven features 4” insulated walls, a Type 304, 2B finish stainless steel exterior with 1/2” inside radiused corners and all interior seams are welded, ground and polished. The stainless steel exterior with #4 brushed finish has continuously welded seams. The unit has single access doors, front and rear.
No. 962 from Grieve includes a red pilot light to indicate when the oven’s opposite side door is open, solenoid-operated door locks and 650 CFM intake pressurizing blower. Also onboard are a 24” x 24” x 6” thick HEPA fresh air filter with 2” prefilter, a 24” x 24” x 6” thick stainless steel, high temperature HEPA recirculating filter, plus a minihelic pressure gauge and DOP validation port across each set of filters.
A digital programming and recording temperature controller activates the dampers and locks the access doors during a cycle. A recirculating blower airflow safety switch turns off the blower and heat whenever a door is opened.

No. 973 is an electrically-heated, 500ºF (260ºC) walk-in oven from Grieve, currently used to cure rubber parts in rotating baskets at the customer’s facility. Workspace dimensions measure 36” W x 60” D x 60” H. 40KW are installed in Incoloy sheathed tubular elements to heat the unit, while a 4200 CFM, 3 HP recirculating blower motor provides combination horizontal/vertical airflow to the workload.
A motorized roller rack is onboard with two levels of 4” dia. driven rollers, each supported by metallized carbon bearings. Each level of rollers holds two 20” dia. stainless steel perforated drums, rotating at 6 RPM, which carry the workload. The rollers are driven via sprockets and a roller chain, exterior to the oven rear, by a 3/4 HP AC motor with inverter variable speed control, gear reducer and torque limiter.
This Grieve walk-in oven features 4” thick insulated walls throughout and an aluminized steel interior and exterior. There’s also a top-mounted heat chamber, single front door and an access door to allow cleaning of the heaters.

250ºF Electric Two-zone, 50 Ft. Conveyor Oven

No. 972 is an electrically-heated, 250ºF (120ºC) two-zone belt conveyor oven from Grieve, currently used to cure a coating onto plastic sheets at the customer’s facility. Workspace dimensions measure 48” W x 50’D x 15” H. 80KW (40KW per zone) are installed in Incoloy sheathed tubular elements to heat the unit, while 25,000 CFM total from two 10-HP recirculating blower motors provide vertical downward airflow to the workload. The oven’s travel comprises a 36” long open belt loading zone, two 25’ long insulated heating zones with independent recirculated airflow and temperature control, plus a 36” long open belt unloading zone. A 42” wide, 1” x 1” flat wire plastic conveyor belt is driven by a 1/2-HP motor drive, variable from 1-20 feet per minute.
This Grieve conveyor oven features 4” thick insulated walls throughout, an aluminized steel exterior, Type 304, 2B finish stainless steel interior with continuously back-welded seams and all wall penetrations fitted with compression fittings. The oven is split into two sections for shipment and reassembly at the customer’s location. Side access doors to the workload and heating chambers are located along the entire length of the unit.
