2000°F Gas-Heated Box Furnace for Heat Treating and High Temp Testing

No. 871 is a 2000°F (~1093.3°C) gas-heated box furnace from Grieve, currently used for heat treating and high temperature testing. 650,000 BTU/HR are installed in three modulating natural gas burners with a floor mounted combustion air blower. Workspace dimensions are 30” wide x 48” deep x 30” high.

The unit has 7” insulated walls comprised of 5” of 2300°F ceramic fiber and 2” of 1700°F block insulation. The 6½” floor insulation is made of 4½” of 2300°F firebrick and 2” of 1900°F block insulation. The plate hearth is made of firebrick and is supported by firebrick piers.

500°F Gas-heated Two-zone Conveyor Oven from Grieve

Grieve Corporation introduces No. 810, a 500°F gas-heated, two-zone belt conveyor oven, currently in use for curing aluminum pistons at a customer’s facility.

Workspace dimensions inside this unit measure 42” wide x 24’ deep x 15” high.  The workloads travel atop a 36” wide, 1” x 1” high carbon steel flat wire conveyor belt with 1/4 HP motor drive, variable from 0.8 to 15 inches per minute, through an 18” long open loading zone;  36” long insulated heat zone with 2 HP, 2000 CFM recirculated airflow;  16” long insulated, unheated vestibule;  16’ long insulated heat zone with 10 HP, 12,500 CFM recirculated airflow;  12” long open zone;  36” long cooling zone and finally an 18” long open unloading zone.

350,000 BTU/HR are installed in modulating natural gas burners in each of the two heating zones on this Grieve conveyor oven.  An aluminized steel exterior houses 4” insulated walls, Type 304 stainless steel interior with continuously welded seams in Zone One and aluminized steel interior in Zone Two.

A 16” diameter tubeaxial fan driven by a 3/4 HP motor pulls room air through the cooling zone.

All safety equipment required for gas heated equipment by IRI, FM and NFPA Standard 86 is on No. 810, including 325 CFM, 1/3 HP  powered forced exhausters, airflow safety switches, hi/lo gas pressure switches, excess temperature controllers and electronic flame safeguard protection.

This unit also features doors at both ends of the workspace to contain heat, as well as pushbutton electric ignition for ease of operation and a recording thermometer.   No. 810 was entirely designed, engineered, built and fully tested by Grieve.

1600°F Gas-heated Belt Conveyor Oven from Grieve

Grieve Corporation introduces No. 811, a 1600°F gas-heated belt conveyor furnace, currently in use for forming glass in alloy molds at a customer’s facility.

Workspace dimensions inside this unit measure 24” wide x 12’ deep x 22” high.  Workloads travel atop a 6” wide, B-30-28-14, Type 314 stainless steel mesh conveyor belt with 1/4 HP motor drive, fixed speed 12 feet per minute, through a 36” long open belt loading zone, 12’ long insulated heat zone with three direct-fired furnaces and a 24” open unloading zone.

1,320,000 BTU/HR are installed in three modulating gas burners with a floor-mounted combustion air blower (not shown in photo).  7” thick insulated walls comprise 5” of 2300°F ceramic fiber and 2” block insulation;  6-1/2” thick floor insulation comprises 4-1/2” of 2300°F firebrick and 2” block insulation.  Vertical lift doors at each end of the workspace provide further insulation.

A remote free-standing control panel (not shown in photo) is also included with this Grieve furnace, which features all safety equipment required by IRI, FM and NFPA Standard 86 for gas-heated equipment.

No. 811 was entirely designed, engineered, built and fully tested by Grieve.

1200°F Gas-heated Belt Conveyor Oven from Grieve

830 GrieveGrieve Corporation introduces No. 830, a 1200°F gas-heated belt conveyor oven, currently in use for preheating electric motor rotors at a customer’s location.

Workloads travel atop a 24” wide, 1” x 1” Type 304 stainless steel flatwire conveyor belt with 3/4 HP motor drive, fixed speed of 15 feet per minute, through a 54” long open belt loading zone, 105” long insulated heat zone with recirculated airflow and a 36” long open unloading zone.

800,000 BTU/HR are installed in a modulating gas burner, while a 6000 CFM, 5 HP recirculating blower provides vertical downward airflow to the workload.

No. 830 features 10” thick insulated walls, comprising 2” of 1900°F block and 8” of 10 lb./cu.ft. density rockwool insulation.  This conveyor oven has an aluminized steel exterior, Type 304, 2B finish stainless steel interior, motor-operated vertical lift doors at each end of the heat zone and 1/4” plate work surfaces at each end of the oven.

All safety devices required by IRI, FM and NFPA Standard 86 for gas-heated equipment are built into this unit, including electronic flame safeguard protection, powered forced exhauster, exhauster airflow safety switch, purge timer, hi/lo gas pressure switches, manual reset main gas valve and testing device for tight closure of main gas valve.

This conveyor oven was entirely designed, engineered, built and fully tested by Grieve.

Two-zone Gas-heated Belt Conveyor Oven from Grieve

791I GrieveNo. 791 is a gas-heated, two-zone belt conveyor oven from Grieve, currently used to stress relieve heavy-duty steel springs.  This unit has a maximum operating temperature of 850°F and workspace dimensions of 48″ W x 360″ L x 15″ H.

The conveyor includes a 4′ long open belt loading zone, 2′ long insulated unheated entrance vestibule, two 15′ long insulated heating zones with independent recirculated airflow and temperature controls, 2′ long insulated unheated exit vestibule and 3 1/2′ long open unloading zone.

Heat is provided by 1,600,000 BTU/HR installed in two modulating natural gas burners.  Two 10,000 CFM, 7 1/2 HP recirculating blowers provide vertical downward airflow over the workload.

All safety devices required by IRI, FM and NFPA Standard 86 for gas-heated equipment are included on this Grieve oven, which also features a two-pen, 10″ diameter circular chart recorder.

Other construction features on No. 791 comprise a 42″ wide, 1″ x 1/2″ flatwire conveyor belt with 1/3 HP motor drive, variable speed from 5.8 to 16.1 inches per minute, 7″ insulated walls throughout, a Type 304, 2B finish stainless steel interior and an exhaust hood over each end of the oven, equipped with a 12″ dia. tubeaxial fan driven by a 1/2 HP motor.

450ºF Gas-fired Vertical Conveyor Oven from Grieve

998 GrieveNo. 998 is a 450ºF (~232ºC) gas-fired, vertical conveyor oven from Grieve, currently used for curing rubber parts at the customer’s facility.  Workspace of this unit measures 68”W x 74”D x 121”H.  400,000 BTU/HR are installed in a modulating natural gas burner to heat the oven, while a 6,000 CFM, 5HP recirculating blower provides a combination airflow to the workload.

This vertical conveyor oven has 4” insulated walls throughout, stainless steel exterior with #4 brushed finish, Type 304, 2B stainless steel interior with continuously backwelded seams, two side doors for access to the workspace and loading/unloading positions on each side to accept the customer’s fixtures, with a counterweight to hold the fixtures horizontal while passing upward through the oven chamber.  The unit was constructed to be split into two sections for shipment.

The vertical conveyor on No. 998 is driven by a 3/4HP motor, controlled by a variable frequency drive, delivering 2.2 to 22.4 inches per minute of movement.  Special light curtains guard the loading/unloading areas to stop indexing the conveyor, while each loading position is monitored by a laser photo eye to ensure a position is unloaded before the next indexing occurs.  The system is controlled by PCC with a human interface screen.

All safety equipment required by IRI, FM and National Fire Protection Association Standard 86 for gas-heated equipment is onboard this Grieve oven, including 2000CFM, 2HP powered forced exhausters.  The entire unit is built to NEMA 12 electrical standards.

Controls include a digital indicating temperature controller, a two-pen 10” dia. circular chart recorder with one pen for temperature and one pen to indicate indexing, plus a tower light to indicate machine status.

2 HP recirculating blower provides vertical downward airflow to the workload.  This oven features a 6” long open belt loading zone, 12” long insulated, unheated entrance  vestibule, 60” long insulated heating zone with recirculated airflow and a 12” long insulated unheated exit vestibule.

The unit has 4” insulated walls throughout, aluminized steel interior, stainless exterior with #4 brushed finish and a 30” wide, 1” x 1” flat wire conveyor belt with 1/4 HP motor drive, variable from 1-20 inches per minute.

This Grieve oven also included a digital indicating temperature controller and fused disconnect switch.

A side hinged door allows access to the workspace and heat chamber.

Seven-zone, Gas-fired Belt Conveyor Oven from Grieve

No. 919 is a seven-zone, gas-heated belt conveyor oven from Grieve, currently used to cure various coatings onto ceramic parts.  Maximum operating temperatures are 350°F in Zones 1-4 and 1000°F in Zones 5-7.  Workspace dimensions measure 51”W x 56’D x 15”H, with a 30” long open belt loading zone, four 3’ long insulated heat zones with independent recirculated airflow and temperature control (350°F), 30” long open zone, three 3’ long insulated heat zones with independent recirculated airflow and temperature control (1000°F), 9’ long cooling zone and 3’ long open unloading zone.

919 Grieve

400,000 BTU/hr. are installed in modulating natural gas burners in Zones 1-4, with 500,000 BTU/hr. in Zones 5-7

A 1/2” wide, B36-20-12-14, Type 316 stainless steel balanced weave conveyor belt is powered by a 1-HP motor drive, variable from 1.5 to 30 inches per minute.

A 30,000 CFM, 30-HP recirculating blower provides vertical upward airflow to the workload in Zones 1-4, while 25,000 CFM, 20-HP unit in Zone 5 and 12,500 CFM, 10-HP units in Zones 6-7 do likewise.

Two 36” diameter tubeaxial fans, each driven by a 5-HP motor, push / pull air through the oven’s cooling zone.

This Grieve belt conveyor oven features an aluminized steel exterior and Type 316L, 2B finish stainless steel interior with continuously welded seams.  There are 4” thick insulated walls in Zones 1-4 and 8” thick insulated walls, comprising 2” of 1900°F block and 6” of 10 lb/cf density rockwool, in Zones 5-7.

The unit has top mounted heating chambers, doors for access to the work space and heat chambers in each zone and is designed to be split into two sections for easier shipment.

No. 919 has onboard all safety devices required by IRI, FM and NFPA Standard 86 for gas-heated equipment, as well as digital indicating temperature controllers.
